The primary malaria vector in Indian cities. Pale brown with dark spots on wings, 5-8mm long. Rests at a distinctive 45-degree angle with abdomen pointed up. Nocturnal biter, most active 10pm to 4am. Breeds in clean, sunlit water — overhead tanks, construction sites, puddles, and improperly maintained storm drains.
