Tiny (3mm) tan-bodied flies with red eyes that plague every Indian kitchen during monsoon and summer. Female lays 500 eggs on overripe fruit, vegetable peels, and fermenting liquids. Egg-to-adult cycle is just 8 days at 28°C — a single overripe banana can produce 200 flies in a week. Major complaint in bars, juice shops, and food-processing units.
